>>31844115 I will do! You and your pony associates are fine fellows indeed.
It really is too early in the day for me to be getting too deeply involved in anything so complex as a psychoanalysis of the most fundamentally interesting character on the show, but the way I see it, Rarity strikes a balance between a naivete towards the world that makes her seem innocent, pure, and therefore attractive to the average pony (i.e. Blues and Caramel) and a certain coyness that's clearly meant to allure and ensnare. She's as much a cougar as she is a maiden, depending on the circumstances and how you interpret her. She wants that self-control, yeah, and I presume that she's definitely a control freak. It's obvious enough from what we've seen in the show. But at the same time, it's her inexperienced nature that she relies on to win favour from others; she takes advantage of them while seemingly being taken advantage of, and that's a mark of a true master manipulator. She's no green child, Rarity, she's a skilled temptress, and that much is evident in everything she does.
I'd say, taking a look at her parents, she probably did have a say - an incredibly vocal say - but ultimately impacted very little in her formative years. Therefore (though I'm no psychologist and am therefore possess a lamentable dearth of true understanding of the issue), she'd have learned to use her wiles to manipulate people. Sure, she has her flaws - she can't keep her cool when she loses her control, she's passionate and hotheaded, far too meticulous - but they're as much positive as they are negative. And, you know, it comes with the territory of being a notable fashionista. In that, she fits the archetpye.
nah, no worries, bro, overanalysis is part of the fun. it's not looked upon kindly by others, though. |
