REASONS WHY THE EPISODE WAS BAD (IF NOT OWL BAD)

1. The frequency of hazardous accidents happening in rapid succession that not only allowed Dash to develop into an attention whore, but also allowed for the Mare to be a super hero as well. Suspension of disbelief is important even in a fictional cartoon show, and this shattered it.

2. Out of Character members of the main cast, particularly, Fluttershy and Twilight who SHOULD have tried to reason with Dash(Despite the futility we are all aware of it, get over it, just because it's futile doesn't mean the gesture shouldn't have been made). Rarity, Applejack and Pinkie Pie were fine, while Rainbow Dash was a bit excessive in her asshatness. Close to how Spike was in that fucking Owl episode. Last weeks episode had Dash being a believable asshat, this weeks crossed the line.

3. Laziness. There are various ways this episode could have been better. Dash's Fans going around and causing problems to see her save the day, the other 5 being the Mysterious Mare being a red herring and it being some totally unrelated pony.

Yes, it's still not as bad as the Owl, but it was fucking trying to be.

Heaven help us, if next weeks episode isn't an improvement, because people might just start pretending Season 2 past Discord doesn't exist.

I don't think Point 1 is a fair criticism. It's a cartoon; things should be over the top. I just went with the flow of all the disasters going on. And I just focused on the staging of each individual, which I thought was done well. The rescues were fun roller coaster rides.

2. They probably didn't have time for the scene you described. I guess if they cut one rescue or another, they could've fit it.

3. Be careful. Telling the writers how to do their jobs is usually not good reviewing. Focus only on what the writers did rather than telling them what they should've done.

My problem was that by the end of Act 2, I thought the ponies were taking the prank on RD too far. RD was really starting to get depressed. But, I still found the ep very well staged and directed.

Just finished watching. It was a little obvious that all five of them were involved in some way when Fluttershy flew past after Twilight fixed the dam, but it was still an enjoyable episode. Although when only the three of them were in the town square, I was still kind of hoping they'd act like they had forgotten about the one that flew past, but decide it isn't important, then have Derpy winking at the end. I suppose that would've been way too obvious though.

Overall, it was a hell of a lot better than MTBPW.

I went into critical thinking-mode as soon as she appeared, trying to figure out who it is.

When she stopped the carriage, I thought it was Applejack. Applejack is the only pony I know that's strong enough to do that. I was a bit befuddled when she fixed the damn with magic AND could fly, only Twilight had the magic in Ponyville to do that, but she can't fly. Then the idea dawned on me that the Mysterious Mare Do-Well could be all of Rainbow Dash's friends, since they all individually have the abilities to perform these feats of heroism, especially when they were all talking about how great Do-Well is and how they could be motivated to do it to teach RD about modesty.

I was 100% sure at the end when they were all splitting apart when RD gave chase to unmask her.

Also, I just knew they'd forget about Tank entirely. Poor guy, but RD is a free-spirit with no responsibilities in her life. She doesn't need a pet keeping her down.
