I'm seriously considering making a fic about a human who wakes up as a pony in Ponyville and have the story develop in a Kafka Metamorphosis direction. The whole thing is surreal and silly to the main character at first, but as time goes on he becomes genuinely frightened of his situation and desperately tries to hold on to his human mind, which is slowly being eroded away as he is forced to adapt to his new lifestyle. In the end, he breaks and regresses into a normal pony.

For me, half the thrill of Cowboy Bebop was how the episodes were self-contained and insular in many cases, but still tied together to fit the overarching narrative. The series ends with an epic confrontation against a supreme evil entity, just when Twilight and friends are about to lead a last and desperate attack againt it.
The screen fades to sepia and then we skip 1,000 years into the future. Celestia, Luna and Spike, all residing on Neo Canterlot are telling the story of said battle to a whole multitude, as part of a Equestria's most important holiday ever.
The audience will never see directly what happened during said battle, except that Twilight and friends won thanks to their unbreakeable bonds and neverending courage, the movie ends when Spike is leaving to give a lecture to a group of young dragons on their first day as Number One Assistants for Twilight's School for Gifted Unicorns.

The credits start to roll and we get to see old pictures of Twilight and her friends during their lives, and how they grew into adulthood, started families and lived their life to the fullest.

The Oasis was no longer the stuff of legends. The identity of those who who managed to find a way to this secret source of friendship became an increasingly regular topic of conversation among ponies. The number of ponies trying to follow suit remained high - something the bullies continue to take advantage of. Filly's and foals are fooled by their offers to lead them to the oasis, which usually end in muggings at a safe distance from the other ponies.

Typical day in Ponyville with the characters going about their days. Nothing too adventurous, nothing too out of the ordinary (If there even is such a thing as ordinary in Ponyville).
Except skipped a few years ahead. Things have changed slightly. Say, the CMC has disbanded and Sweetie, Applebloom and Scootaloo all have their cutie marks. All of the ponies seem a little bit older, a little wiser. Throw in a few little details to show this.
Have it play out easily, and end the show on a positive note. Mimic the very first view of the show (A storybook opening and expounding on the tale of Celestia and Luna.), revealing the series to be a journal of Twilight's. She puts the book away in a bookshelf in the Library, and we see one- Or all- of the Mane Six standing at its doorway. They call for her, and she comes, leaving the door to close and a pan-out over Ponyville. Credits roll. Instead of the pumped-up ending theme have a simple orchestral version.

Shitty overview for an ending episode, maybe I'll do something with the idea later when I can get a firmer grasp for the ponies and actually write with them in-character.

Star Trek DS9: I was thrilled, and I'm rewatching it currently. (I'm halfway through Season 3.)

If FiM hadn't had a second season, I would have been devastated. Since it'll end no sooner than s3e13, I'm satisfied. If it goes longer than that, I'll be glad. By this point, I'll shrug and never stop rewatching the series and writing fanfiction.

There is nothing that can describe the tragedy of Firefly enough, though. Even the movie wasn't balm enough to soothe the wounds of the early cancellation after just one season, considering how much I loved that season.

In many of the same ways FiM is, it's not what they did, or where they went, it's that they were an ensemble cast and the *real* draw of the show was from how their relationships worked and changed.
