Thats my point. He IS a wingless dragon. The character has always been across every incarnation, and the picture in the previous post depicts an adult of the wingless form on the cart that carried spikes egg- its standing on all four legs as opposed to two that the infants stand on. Spike does not have wings, nor will he sprout them. If this incarnation of spike was intended to break tradition and give him wings, he would already have them.

The thing was that different levels of power brought different personalities with them.

Grounded lizards, while small and nowhere near as powerful, were at least communal and could work together.

Flying ones tended to take advantage of the Grounded because they were way bigger, but it isn't long before they get forced out.

The magical dragons tend to get hanged alone. With so much power that they think of themselves above all things, until you make the wrong people mad. For these, they'd range from the Kirin to Fatalis, so thye don't all look like "dragons" at this point.
