I've been rethinking a lot of my interpretations of the pony you posted, the most pinkalicious one (that's the right phrase, right? I'm not getting my slang wrong here?) in light of some of the things we've come to learn in season 2, and I feel like I should re-open the argument in favour of a new approach: Beforehand I was a pretty big proponent of the idea that Pinkie was the smartest of the main six - not academically, but emotionally and socially. That hasn't changed. What has changed is that I've tempered that with a more youthful energy rather than the wisdom I ascribed to her once in the past. Her character remains the same - her behaviour in Lesson Zero is evidence enough of that - but we can see in episodes like Luna Eclipsed that, though she is still wise enough to be able to see the truth in things and control her emotions to an extent, I guess I gave her a bit too much credit. True, she is still the embodiment of what is ostensibly Joy, and her primary goal is still to serve and embolden others, but she's young. I guess beforehand I saw her as the Mother, but now I can pretty much safely say that she's the Maiden, growing into the role of the Mother, if you'll allow me the archetype. In summary, I was a bit too vehemently defensive of Pinkie before. Watching her in this season has made me see that my beliefs were still pretty much right, but a bit too zealous. So there's that, and I rescind some of the things I said a few weeks back.
