Oh god this, WHY do they all get so uppity over themselves. We had a competitive gaming club at our university, which became a fighting game club. At first it was okay, but then the president and his closest friends kept getting bigger and bigger egos. We had a tourney that invited people from all over the state, and after seeing the kinds of people there... the way they talked about their games... I was honestly disgusted. Like, physically repulsed by how these people saw themselves.

The club died when nobody wanted to be around the president anymore. It literally became no fun allowed. He wouldn't even allow us to play certain games, no Brawl or MvC2 for example.

And while I agree that quoting Yipes all the time is dumb, complaining that they "use terms that exclude people" is a pretty stupid argument. Every hobby has jargon and concepts for that are core to the hobby. Jargon is simply the most efficient way of communicating those concepts. You may run into people who don't understand what a jobber or retcon is, or how something is or isn't canon, what 616 is supposed to me, or explain events that happened in comics 10 or 20 years ago, but that's just part of the process of understanding how comics are communicated. Quoting Yipes all the time isn't stupid because it excludes the uninitiated, it's stupid because it was said to be funny and it was only funny the time Yipes said it years ago at ECC or something.
