One of the biggest problems I've noticed in playtesting is this, though: Since you start out as Animist, EVERYONE IN EUROPE gets Colonial Conquest on you. I fixed this by adding a new religion: Celestial (it shares a religious group with Animism and Shamanism, but doesn't grant a Colonial Conquest casus belli).

The only problem is that European powers still like to declare war on you a lot because you're not Christian (big surprise). I was thinking about adding a religious option to convert Equestria to Christianity.

It's... sort of like HOI. Much more based on conquest, though. The focus of the game is empire building, so war and claiming new land is much easier.

Increasing relations would work temporarily, but the AI has a tendency to care fuck-all about relations and be an opportunistic backstabber who will declare on anyone that can cough up land, regardless of relations.

For instance, she has like a billion points in Use Rope. So much so that Twilight trusts her to lasso Dash in Return of Harmony instead of throwing the rope with magic.

AJ is also "the most likeable pony in Ponyville" as of Luna Eclipsed, so she obviously has a much higher Charisma, something Twilight and Dash lack.

Pegasi get CON and DEX. You have to have endurance to keep aloft for long periods.

WIS and INT are very hard to assign to a race, but it would make sense from a game mechanic perspective to give them to unicorns (magic users).

There is a distinction between WIS and INT that many fail to ever learn. INT is knowledge, it answers "what?" -- it helps you know how things work. WIS is understanding. It tells you the context of something. It's more similar to life experience -- it makes no sense for one race to be more experienced at life than another race! WIS answers "why?".

Put to practice:
- INT helps you identify a trap, how it works, and how to disarm it.
- WIS helps you understand why the trap might be there, what motive someone would have for setting it, and what you should do about it.
