Although Rarity's rain gear was designed to protect her delicate white coat from the elements, it was not made to defend her from a horizontal mud bath. Thus, chilled rainwater contaminated with filth from the roadways instantly soaked her to the hide.
Rarity stood stock-still for a moment. Then she shrieked.
She considered hyperventilating. As she was deciding whether such an action would be dramatic overkill, a calm but urgent voice shook her from her contemplations.
"Let's git you inside, ma'am," said a large red stallion wearing a wooden collar.
It took a moment for Rarity to recognize Big McIntosh, Applejack's older brother. The chill water running down the inside of her raincoat made her realize the sanity of such an action. "Let's."
The mud had splashed quite a ways inside her shop. She eyed it with extreme distaste. "Oh, please tell me it hasn't gotten on any of my clothes." She made a beeline for the rarely-used first-floor bath, dripping all the way. McIntosh helped her off with her hat, umbrella, and saddlebags, but she shooed him away from helping her more. "Thank you, my dear fellow, but I require my privacy."
She closed the curtain, and began running the hot water. Oh, would these stains EVER come out? |
