You know, if I was allowed to rewrite how any MLP episode was done, it'd probably be Feeling Pinky Keen. It's not that I dislike it as much as others, but I can understand the feelings others have for it.
I'd probably have it be spent with Twilight acknowledging Pinkie Sense, but simply trying to work out the mechanics of it and thus is hanging around Pinkie alot. Ultimately becoming a Pinkie and Twilight bonding episode.
Possibly with an epilogue seen of one of the others telling Twilight that she has no chance of ever scientifically understanding how Pinkie works and for Twilight to comment something like: "I know, but sometimes it's good to have SOMETHING completely illogical and inexplicable to bash your head over with and wrack your brains over if only because it does force you to be more open minded and think outside of convention."

By the way, has this aritst produced anything since this image? Despite their own claims of it being subpar, I did like it.

I like to think that before Luna was banished, she had a group of followers who preferred her to Celestia, and when she was sent to the moon, they were all banished or otherwise discriminated against.

I applaud the effort, but this is in need of some revision before it continues.

Here's a thought, guys.

Comparing Celestia and Luna, Luna is the stoic one, and Celestia is the more playful one. Luna seems to take her position as royalty very seriously, while Celestia prefers to be more casual. In fact, Celestia often acts in ways that suggest she doesn't quite fit in the princess role, since everyone always seems to be surprised when she shows mercy or sympathy, and we've seen her weird sense of humor. She messes with the Cakes, arranges to have the biggest social event of the year destroyed for her own amusement, and acts very differently when she is in private with Twilight, rather than in public. Contrasting them even further, Luna does things strictly for the sake of tradition, and Celestia clearly doesn't give a crap about tradition. Luna is all about maintaining a royal demeanor, and Celestia doesn't seem to be afraid to let her Serious Face drop.

It seems to me that Luna is a much better fit for the position as supreme leader of Equestria, and was probably expected to be the one to take power...right up until she turned evil and Celestia had to take over for both of them. Celestia was kind of forced into the job, if you think about it. It adds a whole other dimension to their relationship.

I like to think Smartypants belonged to Twilight's mother, and her mother before her, and so on for a few generations (the stitching and fabric survived because magic or some shit, I don't know). She passed it on to her daughter not only because it's tradition, but so that she would have something to remember her parents by while she was away.

I had a similar theory.
Basically, not only was Celestia not really into being a ruler, but she could be downright irresponsible, and Luna herself often had to raise the sun for her, but her sister STILL got credit for the beautiful days.
But I like to think that Celestia honestly does love her sister and think Nightmare Night was an early attempt to make Luna feel better. Originally it was something like "The Moon Festival" and she even mandated Ponies even pay her younger sister tribute.
But once Luna went all Nightmare Moon, that was that, the Holiday became about the monster Nightmare moon and not the Princess Luna and her beautiful work.

And lately, I've been imagining that the whole nightmare moon thing was brought on when Luna performed a Jekyll and Hyde experiment on herself because she felt bad for being jealous of her sister.

Well the feelings that turned her dark could have come from her. And like the original Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Luna might have enjoyed shifting back and forward into Nightmare Moon for awhile. She would have gotten a chance to pull the same kind of shit Celestia did (at least from her perspective, in reality she was causing real problems) and not have her conscious and conditioning to inhibit her.
Then, as Nightmare Moon she did something horrible and realized she needed to stop, but it was too late. Nightmare Moon had become a being unto herself. Luna's spiritual harmony was thrown out of balance from her initial attempt to divide her selves, and thus there was no hope of reharmonizing her soul.
And without another to help with the elements of Harmony, Celestia found herself only able to draw on the raw power of the Elements to seal her sister on the moon-

I know I'm late to the previous mentions, and yeah yeah FPK discussion.

I'm an atheist (feel free to rage etc) but I wasn't bothered on that level. I was bothered as a science nerd. Especially since the show is supposed to break the girly stereotypes about what girls can do with their lives.

Firstly Twilight didn't even accept the strong evidence that Pinkie's predictions were correct, which is what a good scientist would do. She just said "lol I don't believe it" and spent the episode observing her. So I was bothered on that level.

Secondly the slapstick was spoiled for me because Twilight didn't deserve what she got. She was curious and she got repeatedly smashed over the head for it and everyone lolled at it. It left a bad taste in my mouth. It was like "look at that high and mighty nerd get what she deserves for investigating"

Then its depicted as a good thing that Twilight gives up and everyone celebrates and the lesson she learns is that she shouldn't bother to investigate these things.

tl:dr the part that bothered me was that the well meaning scientific character was strawmanned, then was set up as an antagonist and beaten over the head (literally) and then she finally admits defeat and everyone celebrates and its depicted as a good thing she gave up. Bad taste in my mouth, and it spoiled my enjoyment of otherwise good gags and humour.

Also can't forget the whole shoehorned "leap of faith" bit, but that just bothered me because I'm a butthurt atheist.

The more I look at this image (after the initial heart attack), the more I'm starting to picture the scenario. Twilight finds him after he's already asleep, and at first, she feels a little jealous. It's one of those nights where she misses her parents, and it's just after she's gotten it back from Big Mac. It's not fair, she thinks, everyone else has gotten him, but now she wants him and she can't have him.

She thinks about it more, though, and realizes how selfish she's being. Her mother gave it to her to help her sleep at night, and she doesn't even sleep with it very often anymore. Spike's still just a baby, though. Wouldn't it be better if she let him have the doll?

After coming to this conclusion, she realizes that while she still misses her parents, she feels quite closer to them now. Perhaps it's because she's feeling what they must have felt at some point in her childhood? In any case, she bends down, pulls the covers a little tighter over Spike, and crawls into bed herself, content with her decision.

And the way Luna slings around magic, while Celestia very rarely does, shows to me the gulf between them. Luna is powerful enough that she can shapeshift, bring objects to life, silence an entire crowd of ponies with a word, control lightning, and turn a cloak into a bunch of bats.

Celestia is powerful enough that she doesn't HAVE to. She's old enough and strong enough to do some REALLY subtle shit. Even Nicole Oliver said in an interview that everything Celestia does is thought out, and nothing is arbitrary. She has the love and admiration of an entire civilization of ponies, and plans events out rather far in advance, it seems.
