Cutie Mark Chronicles had some nice individual elements. Rarity's whole "My destiny is a rock?" thing was funny, for example.
What I didn't like:
-Fluttershy's song (we finally get to here her sing, and halfway through the singing VA apparently forgets which character she's voicing)
-Rainbow Dash's entire flashback (by the time we get to that scene, everyone watching knows exactly what's going to happen. I mean, we've seen the damn Rainboom 5 times already. My problem isn't that it was telegraphed, since obviously you're supposed to know what she's gonna do, it's just... there wasn't anything new in her flashback. It was boring)
-Filly Dash's body design (she looked like a pig)
-Lack of focus on the CMC (look, I don't particularly like the crusaders, but if you're going to do an episode about them trying to find their cutie marks by talking to adult ponies, don't just ignore them as soon as one of the mane 6 shows up. The crusaders were a serve as a plot device to set up the mane cast's stories, but I felt like they weren't even treated as characters, just as a means to an end).
Anyway, there's probably a few other things I could come up with, but those are the big ones. |
