>>30703062 Seriously? God, have you not noticed that practically every episode of FiM tends to be a shoutout to another classic cartoon/90s cartoon? Feeling Pinkie Keen to Looney Tunes, etc. Party of One and Lesson Zero were shoutouts to Ren & Stimpy, down to the creepy circus music, exaggerated faces, cracking for small reasons, and beyond. It's not something deep, every episode has had a theme, it's what makes FiM so diverse and one of the major reasons I like it. While season 2 is a touch darker so far I admit, it still had the friendship lessons, the hugs, the cute factor; it's just able to be more like a ... well, cartoon now.
On that note, what bugs me most is how they say Twilight's and Pinkie's freakouts are 'dark' and 'nightmare fuel', like how they're gonna kill someone. Twilight's evil scheme, the pinnacle of evil for her, was to make three kids jealous of a doll so she could teach them a lesson. Pinkie threw a party for her imaginary friends instead of her real ones to get back at them. Funny faces=/=grimdark. |
