Okay, this is going to sound balls retarded but just hear me out.

I want to write an MLP/PSG crossover fic. There isn't going to be some interdimensional portal or angered wizards, pony versions of most or the PSG cast will be established to have be living in Ponyville. Of course, they (Panty and Stocking at least) won't really get along with regular members of the MLP cast, and therefore won't have typically associated with them. Twilight's going to try to get to know them and make friends and junk, but Panty and Stocking won't go for it. There's going to be a subplot to it involving ghosts or the Demon Sisters (ponyfied, of course) that I haven't quite figured out, and the Mane 6 and Panty & Stocking will have to work together to solve the problem. In the end, Panty and Stocking still won't like Twilight and go about their business, and Twilight'll go write to Celestia about how you can't expect to make friends with everyone, but that's no reason not to help them when they need it.

Thoughts? Hopefully ones that aren't simple "This idea is stupid" one sentence dismissals?

But I've noticed that the best crossovers, at least in my opinion, succeed in finding common ground in themes and ideas, rather than remaining separate save for minor interactions. Well, when I was brainstorming, I noted the fact that in their show, Panty and Stocking are generally unlikable and rude to pretty much everyone, leading them to have pretty much just one true friend (whom they treat like shit). I then thought of Bridle Gossip, and remembered how Twilight tried to show everyone that Zecora was just another person, despite the town's opinions on her.

So, from there, I combined the two ideas, where Panty & Stocking earned a reputation in Ponyville for being unlikable before Twilight's arrival, so she, assuming it was another Zecora situation, would try to show everyone that they weren't so bad, only to discover that yes, in fact, they were.

There's still the issue of the subplot, regarding who the major antagonist of the story's going to be. Ghosts seems like it might work, they'd probably fit well within MLP, especially if they were in the forest, but at the same time, I really have a lot of fun writing Scanty and Kneesocks in PSG fics, and I'd like to include them somehow.

Also, how does this sound: In the original show, Panty and Stocking are angels that were kicked out of Heaven. What if in this story, they were pegasi that were kicked out of Cloudsdale? A small idea, but it'd help me design Pony!Panty and Pony!Stocking

"Antagonist" technically defines a character that attempts to bring some sort of change in a story, which the protagonist traditionally resists; one could therefore argue that Panty and Stocking are the antagonists, since they try to impose their jerkiness onto Twilight Sparkle and her friends, who do everything in their power to accept the two newcomers.

As for the fall from Cloudsdale, I don't think that's an effective parallel to the fall from Heaven. I mean, Dash came from Cloudsdale, and she isn't exactly angel material. Maybe an alternative is to exile Panty and Stocking from Canterlot, since they goofed things up on an executive level? That'd certainly be interesting, considering how Princess Celestia is normally compassionate and understanding towards her subjects; the exile of those two particular ponies implies that they did something really, REALLY bad, and I think that'd be fun to play with.
