Well I've posted this before but I'll post it again I guess, even if I'm falling asleep sitting up right now.

The Cakes are looking to expand their business, and the first place they want to start is Manehattan. They task Pinkie with managing their new store until they can hire someone to do it full-time, and she agrees. Because Pinkie is unfamiliar with the town, Applejack accompanies her. Upon first arriving, they start in the glamorous side of town, and Pinkie is awestruck.

Of course, the Cakes couldn't afford to open a store there. As they continue, they find themselves in the bad side of town; there are groups of colts wearing leather jackets, graffiti on the walls, and some of the stores are abandoned. AJ is skeptical, but Pinkie remains hopeful. AJ tells Pinkie that they should give up and go home, but Pinkie persists. She advertises the grand opening, and despite the location, they are flooded with customers.

It becomes too much for Pinkie to handle, and she has a small scale nervous breakdown (nowhere near the caliber seen in Party of One). She tells AJ that she was right, but AJ learns that even if you have reason to doubt in your friends, you should still support them, no matter what.

If not, I've been thinking about it on the bus, and I think the writing.com method has a lot of merit. It lets us develop it and have the progress immediately usable by everyone, it's very open and easy to use, it clearly works for communal development, and we can always scrape the content out and put it into a dedicated VN engine later if it takes off.

The main problem I can see with the existing collaborations is they have too high a barrier for entry, wheras this method has effectively no barrier for entry, which could work in our favour. The video was a singleplayer demo, yes, but they were already testing client-server connections and had a good number of people walking around ponyville in a test build. I'd say it's just gonna be another two or three months before we see some actual content.

Fighting is Magic, though, is running at a freakishly fast pace. Yeah, it's Fighter Maker, but they're pretty much writing their own engine in Ruby over FM2002. And the speed they're running that shit is phenomenal. It's not even a week after each video they put out they declare that they've done so much since then they're officially embarrassed about the mechanics shown in said videos. They've made it pretty clear they've put together a dedicated, competent team that knows what they're doing, and I can't fucking wait to see it finished.

The only times I've ever seen anything succeed from imageboards is when they branch off and begin a centralized project. Everything based around anon making it has failed. Hell, 7chan once ran a covert operation in erepublic for THREE MONTHS before anyone caught on. THis was solely because they had melded anon working with a small cadre of leaders making the broad decisions and laying out the framework. The only reason it failed was because there wasn't ENOUGH centralization, and relied too much on anon manpower. They failed to integrate a larger number of people into the project through traditional internet forms, such as forums. IRC and google docs was relied on extremely heavily. In that respect, i see that plot as the progenitor of our modern fanbase, relying almost exclusively on general threads, IRC, and google docs.

tl;dr You need leaders. Nothing is going to get fucking done without them.

I read about Rarity's accent, and it appeared to be called Mid-Atlantic English. Mixture of British and American elements without either being predominant. Hollywood actors spoke in that accent during the 1930's and 40's until it fell out of vogue. Not very fitting for Rarity, but I guess she just wants to be different.
