>>30471735 Dude, MS was here yesterday. Or the day before. Anyway, he still turns up from time to time. I think he said he posts as anon a fair bit too.
>>30471749 Honestly, I should probably drop the subject, given where the fuck we are, but I agree entirely. Marriage is supposed to be a sacred covenant based on highly moralist principles - it may have had its roots in a certain type of functionality, but now that that purpose is equally served in other ways, and debatably has negative sociological ramifications (depending on who you're talking to), aside from the legal rights it confers which should be freely available to all seeking it, it's purely an aesthetic decoration that symbolises love, rather than...whatever it is people think it is today. Anyway, I have a pretty involved stance on the issue, but my ultimate, overarching macro-point is basically that the stigmatisation of homosexuality through institutionalised homophobia effectively criminalises it in a manner very similar to the way legislation treated it priorly. That's a problem. We can be as liberal as we like, but we still draw highly exclusivist dividing lines between "us" and "them" based on a number of factors, not the least of which is sexuality; the more of those lines we rub out, the closer we move to an actual proliferation of liberalism in society. Which, in a sense, is what I want? I don't know, man, I'm tired as shit.
Speaking of which, P.Q., you still hanging around, brochacho? |
