It would seem that besting Discord was not all that was necessary to unify all of Ponykind: following his downfall, numerous pretenders rose to challenge the legitimate rule of Celestia and Luna. It was Dependence Day that all rebellions and challenges to the throne were finally dealt with. Each year, it would seem, there is a procession in Canterlot to celebrate the rule of their rightful sovereigns.
