!!cJ4MGVqvOKw 10/09/11(Sun)12:12 No.30410113>>30409840 Twilight Sparkle had wanted to head down to the local café for tea on that morning, hoping to catch the brunch-time specials. Living on a limited budget, she'd come to appreciate the value of a good bargain; her weekly stipend, snatched straight from the royal coffers, only lasted so long at the best of times, and frugality was key even when she wanted to treat herself. Fluttershy agreed wholeheartedly, despite not having the same problems (being the town veterinarian may have been hard work, but it certainly was lucrative), purely on the basis that she wanted to get a fried tulip baguette before they pulled them from the windows for the week and she'd have to wait until the next.
Breakfasts skipped, and tummies rumbling, the two of them sat down beneath the café's awnings, at the usual table, to feast on their newly acquired meals in relative silence.
Twilight sat still for a few moments before digging into her chow, idly watching the ponies passing by through the town square. Across from her, Fluttershy was contentedly munching on her baguette, careful not to let any of its contents fall out the sides; her eyes were closed in quiet enjoyment as she savoured the slightly fruity, tangy taste of the tulips on her tongue.
"Mmf," she mumbled through a mouthful of food, "fried in extra virgin olive oil, very nice."
Twilight cocked her head, barely able to make sense of the garbled words, but then she gave up, and sighed, smiling, as she bit down into her own meal. The ambient sounds of hustle and bustle around them were enough to lull them as they ate, birds perched happily on the buildings around them chittering away in symphony.
It was, as always, a very quiet, tranquil morning in the idyllic town of Ponyville, and the two ponies resolved to enjoy it together, as best they could, and eventually, after a slight mishap involving Twilight's alarmingly clumsy teeth and her now-swollen tongue, they finished their meals. |
