!!cJ4MGVqvOKw 10/06/11(Thu)13:31 No.30323558>>30323324 By the time Applejack had managed to pull the twisted, mangled corpse from the ashen wreckage of what had once been Fluttershy's beautiful treehouse, the last licks of writhing flame had simmered down to a low smattering of sparks, dying down under a torrent of viciously cold rain.
The clouds overhead, gathered and whipped into a frenzy by a frantic and reckless Rainbow Dash, slowly began to spread apart, aimlessly drifting off towards the Everfree Forest. The blue pegasus didn't bother going after them, eyes still trained hesitantly on the smoking wreckage surrounding the thicket, desperately searching for movement. From her height, perched on a lone storm cloud high above the woods, she could barely make out an orange figure crawling through the fallen, scorched lumber, dragging an indeterminate body behind it.
Applejack, she assumed with a start of fright, pulling whatever the tiny, bright-coloured dot was along with a jumpy, zig-zagging motion. She darted down in their direction, one last buck blasting the storm cloud she'd been resting on prior into oblivion with a burst of water.
On the ground, Pinkie Pie felt more than a little distressed, bouncing around wildly, filled with nervous energy. Her eyes were clamped tightly shut, and they refused to open; just the sound of hissing steam and pitter-pattering rain was enough for her. The tears threatening to break free behind her eyes couldn't quite match the strength of her denial. Next to her, Rarity laid a kindly foreleg across the pink pony's withers, pulling her towards her for a loving caress; she herself couldn't quite deny her sight enough to forget what she had seen. Careless fire, choking smog, fleeing animals...
Twilight Sparkle, after a careful inventory of everything and everyone that had been in the treehouse, sat back and wept openly. Applejack, in front of her, dropped the carcass to the ground, eyes focused on the ground, head hung in shame. |
