Alright, I'll dig it up in the archive.
"It's been six years, now. Six years since you stumbled across the box, six years since you found the purpose in life you'd been begging for. To this day, you have no idea how she came to be in this world, nor do you know who left her there for you to find; all you know is that you're thankful.
She comes to you, tears in her eyes. She's wearing the outfit you made for her, after many nights of failed attempts at learning to sew, fueled more by love than coffee. She tells you that, again, the kids are picking on her. They keep reminding her that she's different, that she doesn't belong. Many thoughts go through your head, thoughts of revenge, thoughts of similar situations you endured when you were her age, so many thoughts that you don't even notice her climbing into your lap.
You look down, and she's curled up, crying into your chest. You sigh, pushing those thoughts out of your head, knowing you'll spend the rest of the day and most of the night comforting her until she finally falls asleep. You don't mind, though; it's not the first time, and as sure as kids will always be cruel, it won't be the last." |
