Believe it or not, there actually a few pony artists whose work I enjoy looking at. I never "lorded" myself over all others like one claimed, I only pointed out what I saw were shortcomings. I have plenty of my own.
But to answer your question, MegaSweet's competent and sometimes makes amusing pictures. I just wish he'd cut loose and say fuck off to everyone hounding them for requests so he could experiment a little more. Tess' art is great, there's an abbreviation there but I can tell looking at some pictures that she's hiding her knowledge of stuff that goes beyond drawing simple ponies. There's some other fucking guy I can't remember who drew these good pony pictures over on Ponychan, but he was anonymous and his thread's long dead, I believe. Uhhhh who else. Glitter Glue's work is also great for fanart, there's some energy there. Basically, for me to have a special interest in an artist means that their work has to be kinetic, it has to move. It has to have punch. I admit that I don't like Noel's art, it reminds me of those books you find in arts and crafts stores of old ladies telling you how to draw fairies in gardens.
As for artists I really admire outside of pony world, Bob Clampett (more specifically his animator Rod Scribner) and Willard Mullin, sports editorial cartoonist, are both enormous influences on my own work. Mullin's work is so dynamic and loose, just love it. |
