I liked the excitement back in the February - May period.

I started the same way most people did which was by just wondering what was up with all the Pony stuff. I figured anon wouldn't let me down in watching a new quality show just for the hell of it. I remember cringing at out silly the characters names sounded and how they kept saying things like "cutie mark". But 14 episodes later I couldn't stop watching it.

Now I was also pretty pissed at 4chan for an unrelated reason so I was enjoying seeing in buried in an avalanche of ponies. It was great to see it being completely unable to stop the onslaught....but then of course the "fans" had to start ruining things.

Yeah, their society seems to share a lot with engineered utopias. They have their basic path in life chosen before they're even born, so that they can have an accurate name, but are never told or have it hinted to them, they discover their love for themself - giving the illusion of free choice. Once they know what they want to do, and have discovered their special talent, they'll find they're already unnaturally good at it. Their society promotes each pony being highly specialized, thus having to rely on those around them for support in other areas, making all of society a giant web of friendship. It doesn't quite make it to utopian - they still have money issues, demand still outstrips supply, their world isn't entirely safe for them, ponies still get ill, and presumably die, but they're all *happy* doing what they do.

Oh, I don't think it's done intentionally, just a natural result of magic. Like, they all use magic in different ways, if there's some biological component to that then that could decide what specific way they're best with magic, thus in a sense charting their basic path. People, if you want to regex for a literal period character then you need to stick a \ in-front of it. Period on it's own matches any character.

E.g. [,.] is matching comma or ANY character.

Your [,.]+[0-9]{3,5} regex is actually blocking any sequence of characters followed by 3-5 numbers. It'll work for the spammer but would potentially block other things too.

This'd be better:
[,\.]+\d{3,5}
(1 or more literal period or comma followed by 3 to 5 numbers). \d is the same as [0-9], just shorter.
