10/01/11(Sat)03:27 No. 30160624 >>30160188 Seriously? You're seriously going to blame ponies for the faggotry that is General threads? FUCK YOU. Ponies are not the great Satan, cause of all your woes. General threads existed for MONTHS before the first episode of Friendship aired. You know where they came from? /v/. Pokemon experianced a big spike in popularity for some reason somewhere around 6 months before B&W was announced. The original Nuzlocke comics may have been involved, or they may have come after. Either way, /v/ got aboard the nostalgia train and started image dumping and childhood memory sharing and firing up their old games. Pokemon got SO popular that there were 3+ threads on the pages 0-1 almost every day. So /v/, being the fucking assholes that they are, rather than letting a fad run its course, decided to bite back like spoiled children and started the old rage&sage. To placate the community, Pokemon fans started to gather into what they called "Pokemon General"; a single thread where they could condense all their whatnots. They all started off with a witty little trio of verbs, such as "BATTLAN' TRADAN', NOSTALGIAN'! POKEMON GENERAL!" which eventually became its own mini-meme. Soon people were making special "Pokemon General" images to mark the threads. The "Pokemon General" Format was crazy successful. It allowed anon's to easily communicate and organize for battle and trade, it was a one-stop shop for image dumps, and all other kinds of goodness. So other games started copying it with the same intro style (Verban'! Nounan'! Adjectivan'! VIDYA GENERAL!) and making their own special marker images. Why? Because it allowed for ease of discussion without having to dig for a thread or start your own. In other words, Generals spread because anon's are lazy. So shut your FUCKING FACE. Its /v/'s fault, just like every other fucking thing. They destroy all they touch. Stop blaming ponies for Generals.
