If Twilight Sparkle had not become Celestia's student, she would not have been sent to Ponyville as an envoy in the first place, meaning that there would be no powerful magic-wielder on hand when Trixie brought the Ursa Minor to Ponyville, meaning that nothing would stop its rampage.

Therefore, Fluttershy's shitty flying saved all of Ponyville.
