>>30105106 "Adventures in Equestria Sitting", or "I Was a Teenage Goddess"
Celestia discovers a rogue comet has wandered off of its appointed path, and has to venture up into space to retrieve it. Since she'll be gone for a couple weeks, she puts Luna in charge of raising the Sun and Moon and scheduling the season changes. The ponies, of course, are as in awe of Luna's powers as they are Celestia's. Unfortunately, Luna is not quite up to handling her older sister's job yet.
It works out okay for the first few days, but Luna starts getting lazy and cuts corners doing her celestial housekeeping. Pretty soon the Sun and Moon start rising at crazy times and the Seasons appear out of order. Things really get out of hand when she invites some of her star-friends over for a party, and they end up making a total mess of the heavens, and even worse, blurring the borders between the carefully managed Equestria and the unmanaged Everfree Forest. Of course, to Luna, it just seems like she's let the housekeeping get away from her. To the ponies, it looks like Discord has returned.
Fortunately, Celestia returns in the nick of time and manages to banish the monsters back into the Everfree Forest and restore the Sun and Moon and seasons. She chastises her little sister for not taking her responsibilities seriously, and Twilight Sparkle's "lesson in friendship" is that even the greatest of people can mess up.
This sort of lays out what I think Luna's character is going to be like. You have to remember that ponies, even grown up ones, are actually rather childlike creatures. Celestia is the one true "adult" in the show; this is why she is so inscrutable. Luna, however, is not a child, nor is she an adult like Celestia. She's a teenager, and is going to be portrayed like a teenager, complete with all the teenage craziness, angst, and (occasional) flashes of maturity. |
