 Regarding Discord:
First off, in a show that has had a ridiculous shortage of male characters, Discord is really the first male main character other than Spike. He's very hands-on with the various ponies and interacts with all of them directly (which is more than can be said of, say, Big Mac). That's more than enough reason to spur shipping across the board, especially given that we've seen it takes much, much less on average.
As for the weird aggressive streak he has, that seems obvious too. He's a twisted, deceptive, cunning, and corrupting force. He's aggressive in a sneaky way. He brings out the darker side of the characters. Is it really any surprise he'd be pushed as a rapist, seducer, or corrupter? It's more justified than 90% of the crack ships out there.
I mean, you can dislike it, that's cool. But don't act like you don't know where it's coming from. |
