09/25/11(Sun)14:40 No.29993548For me, the second episode didn't feel "rushed" as much as it felt just "fast-paced."
It would've been rushed for me if certain scenes didn't play out as conclusively as they did, but it felt as though every scene had its purpose, and didn't overstay its welcome.
Discord playing with Twilight. Twilight having to deal with her disagreeable friends. Twilight fighting with her friends. The break-up of the elements of harmony, and Twilight's subsequent moping. Rediscovering the "spark" through her letters. Reuniting with her friends. The fantastic balloon scene trying to catch Rainbow Dash (which, to me, was more like the climax, since it was the final step in recollecting all of the elements and was all of the "action sequence" the episode needed). And, finally, a decisive conclusion. No silver-tongued Hannibal Lecter speech about the advantages of chaos and the privilege of free will. No drawn-out fight scene that would've looked and felt clunky and awkward given the designs of the characters -- just finish him off with an appropriate end. Discord was quick to mock the elements, and, as retribution, was quick to lose to them.
That's a fuckton of content to pack into 22 minutes, but I think it's uncanny just how well it flowed together. |
