With all this Rarity love, I just have to paste this again, with the picture that inspired it:
She broke down the moment you handed it to her. For a moment, you thought you had erred as she fell to her knees and began to sob. But, no, this was the perfect anniversary gift. For all these years, she thought it was broken. The music box wouldn't wind, wouldn't play her favourite tune any more. But you pulled it out of the attic, took it to pieces, and put it back together again. It jingles the tune that she grew up with, that was tied so strongly to her childhood. She looks up at you, tears in her eyes. You can't help but sink to your knees too as she winds the key and hums along with the music. The toy ballerina spins, and her eyes are transfixed on it. As it slows down, she looks back up to you. After setting the box down ever so delicately, she pounces on you with ferocity you didn't know she had. A thousand thanks, and a thousand kisses all over your face. Almost embarrassed, she catches her self and coughs like nothing happened. Well, this will make a splendid gift for Sweetie Belle's next birthday. She loves to sing, after all. You can't help but notice the glow on her face, and she winds it once more so she can hum again. You feel a little disappointed that she didn't notice the ring at the back of the box, but that's okay. You can buy another one tomorrow. |
