>>29924030 Yeah. The thing I've come to realise about it is that a person's interest in characters and, by extension, their treatment of those characters, whether simply as elements and devices in a narrative or as intradiegetic individuals, reflects a lot of their actual individuality and personality. It's an interesting thing, how we carry these natural traits into everything we do. I mean, for instance, the people who love Rarity primarily are generally nitpicky, perfectionist, concerned with details (maybe even obsessive), and these sorts of "shared character trait" carry over to how others feel about their own unique characters. There's a word for it, I can never remember what it is, but it's a pretty cool and interesting phenomenon and it really shows itself in contemporary culture. |
