What you’re referring to as MLP, is in fact, Faust/MLP, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, MLP plus Faust. MLP is not a good show unto itself, but rather, a component of a fully functioning Faust system made useful by the Faust's characters, art direction and humor comprising a good show.
Many TV watchers watch a modified version of the MLP show every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Faust which is widely watched today is often called “MLP”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Faust system, developed by the Faust. There really is an MLP, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
MLP is the universe: the base of the show that provides locations and sequences of events allowing the characters to interact. The universe is an essential part of an show, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a set of characters. MLP is normally watched in combination with the Faust system: the whole system is basically MLP with Faust added, or Faust/MLP. The so-called “MLP” is really Faust/MLP. |
