The first point is the most important one, I think.
Did you ever watch the show "What Not To Wear"? You probably didn't. You probably skipped by it on your way to TechTV. I did watch it. The hosts of that show plucked people who dressed terribly from their normal lives, gave them a style consultation, and set them loose in New York City with $5000 to spend on new clothes. They also gave them a new hair style, and, in the case of the women, new makeup advice.
Do you know what EVERY participant's reaction to their 'makeover' was at the end?
They were HAPPY. Some of the women even cried. It didn't matter whether they were eager to change their wardrobe or whether they resisted. By the end, every single one of them was overjoyed with their new appearance. Do you know why?
Because you can't separate how you look from how you feel, not really. They're not exactly the same, but deep down, if you aren't taking care of your appearance, it's a reflection of a careless and depressed state of being. Consequently, if you improve your appearance, you begin to feel better. Looking good isn't the only step to feeling good, but it's an important step to it, and it's a step so many people these days don't understand.
Rarity DOES understand it. Rarity realizes that when people (ponies) look better, they feel better. |
