My dad has had a decades-long career as a Hollywood animator, unfortunately like I said he doesn't really have good common sense, case in point despite his many many years of experience he has never been anything more than an animator, he received offers to be promoted to more supervisory positions but he declined because he loved doing the hand-drawn animation and SFX stuff too much to give it up. As a result he is in his late 50s and pratically destitute because he has no much trouble outcompeting the young new animators for jobs, and he had to teach himself computer animation all on his own just so he could start getting jobs in that field

and my mom divorced him a few years ago, though technically they've been separated for way longer than that and were just remaining married for tax reasons, for the last ten years we moved to another town but all three of us (me her and my brother) are all having a pretty crappy time here, and me and my mom know we need to move (my grandmother just died recently and it's become pretty apparent that we need to move down to live with her father on his property) but my brother refuses to move because he seems to have developed severe OCD and has issues with what he called "contamination", which is this weird complex he has that I don't understand at all but basically my mom is stuck between wanting to move to live with her father whose wife just died and who just recently fell and broke some bones, and the fact that my brother refuses to move but his OCD is so severe that there's no way he would be able to live on his own (he has a job but doesn't have a car or drivers license)
