>>29705996 sadness or misery is the easiest emotion to convey
Ugh. This is just one of my buttons, but I fucking hate when people start harping on which emotions are easier to write. It's completely stupid. There IS NO "easiest emotion" to convey, because emotions are totally subjective. It's really easy to make some people laugh, so comedy is a snap if they're reading it. But it may be very difficult to make that same person sad, so sadness becomes a challenge. Another person may be the opposite. And so on.
Then there's the fact that some people may not find the same things sad/funny/scary. A story that leaves one person sobbing might make another person laugh, or get no reaction at all.
Getting emotion across in a story is always a challenge, because no matter how good you are, you can NEVER get an emotional reaction out of every reader. Everybody's different. |
