Something I said on my dA page turned into an interesting Internet game of telephone; consequently, a lot of fans now seem to think that I had a grand scheme for a big, dramatic, serialized magical-girl style of a show. Actually, it was always my intention to have the show partially “adventure stories” and partially “relationship stories,” as I called them in my initial pitch bible. I had thought that maybe a third of the episodes could be more like Dragonshy, or the end of Feeling Pinkie Keen, or even have this creepy thread through them like Stare Master. But, ultimately, fewer than a quarter of the episodes had this adventure aspect to it. There were several reasons why. For example, restrictions on what was considered too scary for our younger demographic put limitations of the types of stories we could tell. The accelerated schedule also made it difficult - plot heavy episodes take too long to plan, and too many new characters and locations were a heavy burden to the crew at such a fast pace. If we had tried to do more, they would have fallen short; and since we had a cast and crew that was so well versed at comedy, it just seemed like the right decision to de-emphasize that style.

I'm a hardcore fan of FiM, so many times I would even try to escape reality with lucid dreaming, I would be in Ponyville where I would often train with Rainbow Dash in the training center and help Apple Jack with the apple bucking, but one day as I was talking to Twilight Sparkle, we went to her library for a private talk. She immediately said, "You know you could live with us forever.." I gave her a confused look and she continued, "We understand that you live on earth and you REALLY wish to live here". Lets speculate what will happen in the two parter.

I have a strange felling that discord have the same magical wavelength as Harmony, and that Discord is pretty much discordian engergy given form and life.

Discord is actually a creature created to asorb all the hatred and wars in equestria and leave only harmony, but it backfired and created havoc instead. Which explained why the sisters sealed him up in the first place and why the Elements of Harmony can actually destroy him; those Elements where made from the Harmonic relationship of all of Equestria.

So one of two things will happen: either They use the Elements of Harmony to OBLIVIATE Discord, causing those Elements to be destroyed as well, OR, The Elements of Harmony reformed Discord into Harmony so that he may stay in the show as friend as opposed to a villain (Like how they manage to bring Luna in for season 2, since I suspect that they AREN'T planning to use the pilots as the actual episodes but have to since they wanted to jump in before the "Robot Unicorn Attack" phenomenon faded).

I see your point entirely and have to agree. Just making the character anything more than just a background animation loop is flattering really. I found it immensely flattering that they added the googly eyes in later episodes.

Pretty much anything they do with her is icing at this point. They took what was basically (and pardon me if I'm using this term wrong) a stand alone complex and turned it into a real character. We made copies and actual ideas out of something that was never really there in the first place, what was tantamount to a fluke of animation. Something that wasn't supposed to be there. A glitch.

ultimately, as you've said, chance dictated the existence of the character as it is now. members of the fandom who were around back then capitalised on that and showed their dedication to the show. in return, they were repaid by the producers of the show showing dedication to the fandom. it's a weird sort of symbiotic relationship, but one that speaks of a bright future for the series - not necessarily in one group catering to the other, but rather, each group being aware of each other's desires and needs, and making concessions to support that. ultimately we are the ones who will concede, but every now and then they'll throw us a bone, and honestly, what more could we ask for, considering the quality of the product?

that's actually one of the things i myself have been happy about, and a great deal of others too - by picking and choosing what is and isn't relevant to the show, rather than allowing sycophantry and kowtowing to affect what ends up in it, they're basically controlling the flow of information within the fandom and directing it in a constructive way, rather than controlling it. what they ignore will eventually die out, what they consume will be immortalised in canon - therefore, unless something is particularly notable within the fandom (i.e. Cupcakes), there's absolutely no way it will have any major ramifications on the direction of the fandom as a whole. it's a good call on their part, actively influencing their supporters in periphery demographics towards certain goals, rather than being passive and allowing all hell to break loose in their apathy.
