There's still a ton of the original artists and writers around - RS, MS, Squeak, Slywit, Cassonade and so on - and even Madmax came back the other day. I don't claim to speak for anyone else in this fandom, but when I try to write something, I aim for a compelling story first, and catering to fanfiction tropes second. The idea just popped into my head and I shared it because it was tangentially related to the topic at hand - I'm not saying the outline was a masterpiece of literary genius, or that people have to read into it anymore than they want to, but in MY head, the notion of an internal struggle between lust and reason is a potential topic for exploration.

I don't want to get into discussing it again because it's just going to cause more people to tell me I'm taking >fanfiction too seriously, or that I'm just plain retarded, but as a writer all I can hope to do is evoke emotion in people, and make them think - putting someone in someone else's mind as they struggle with themselves over a gut-wrenching decision, and using descriptive language to bring the reader into the scenario to increase it's effectiveness in regards to storytelling... that's what I'd hope to do if I wrote that story, not just to do a paltry tale about one of the ponies getting raped.
