I want to write a parody of bad fanfic styles. I know the "wanna-be grimdark Cupcakes attempted shock horror" sort of writer, plus the "too romantic and obsessed with pairings to write a normal story but not willing to write straight-up porn" shipping writer, then there's "straight up porn writing that's painfully out of character and might even forget they're dealing with ponies." And who could forget "painful self-insert or OC story that's ultimately all about showing off the authour's pet character"?

I could use a couple more though. Maybe some example fics would help. Just give me some bad writing styles and common shitty writing tropes you see lying around the fandom to work with.

On a related note, since they seem to be drawing a lot of influence from the Q character (the omnipotent, trickster archtype) it'll be interesting to see if they draw upon on of Q's other major characteristics - that is that all his games and tricks (apart from general amusement) also serve to teach the subjects a lesson about themselves or their nature, and ultimately become better people (ponies)

As much as I love the fact that Discord is basically Q in every single way imaginable, I just wish he looked a little more...not crappy.

As much as I love Discord I don't feel artsy today. I'l feel it on Saturday. Until then you get some quick rushed facial expression sketches from me.

1: This is The one I started with. I had no idea what I wanted to do at this point so I went with a more disappointed looking and sarcastic expression as in like, "What, you don;t want to play? Pitty that..."

2) I giggled. It turned out looking like the showcard to an old Donald Duck cartoon or sumthin'.
3) I didn't want to include it because it was so horrific, but eh. It's a quick crack off memory of the Steven Magnet expression.

Doodlecrap. Some bits of these are embarassingly bad, but in my defense I didn't have any references handy and I haven't seriously studied my human anatomy references in like...a month or more.

So started just doodling some ponies (trying out rounder female snouts; also, that Dash's pose at the top was unintentional), then decided that if I want to be involved in that artist collaboration calendar I probably need to actually start back on practicing my humans, since I've only got a little over two months to enter something.

So I started to sketch a body, which didn't turn out too terrible (though there are plenty of mistakes). But then I tried to draw a human face and...well you can see for yourself. It didn't end well.

So I flipped over to a new page and started doodling a Gilda bust, which was going okay, then I decided to scribble a bit of her body and one wing for some practice on that (left my wing refs at home as well; considering investing in an e-reader just so I can haul all this shit around inconspicuously). Then I realized well shit, Gilda sort of has arms. Let's draw some of those. And obviously the biggest problem there is that I've made them incredibly disproportionately tiny. Anyway I sketched some more hands up above using my own hand as a reference this time. I know they're not great but I actually don't think hands are gonna be all that much trouble to get down, at least compared to faces. I REALLY need to study my faces badly.

Other than that I had a bit of space left over, so I just drew a big ol' eye for no reason.
