!!cJ4MGVqvOKw 09/11/11(Sun)08:07 No.29567653>>29567609 It's a case of the fact that beforehand, despite being part of the whole "sophisticate" archetype, your typical debutante in some respects, she'd had a whole lot of character strength. She'd been selfless at times, selfish at others, funny, likeable and ultimately human - Suited for Success was easily one of her high points in my book if not her defining moment. And then along comes Dog And Pony Show, and suddenly "oh, she whined her way out of captivity, such intrinsic character strength". I appreciated the fact that they were at least attempting to imply she was cunning and crafty, but it seemed cheap and ham-fisted to me, enough to make it look like she was simply an insufferable bitch, rather than someone manipulating a situation as best she could to escape from it.
I love the show, and I'm not saying D&PS was a bad episode (it was high quality as always), but that was one of Rarity's weakest moments in my book, because it painted her as very one-dimensional when beforehand she'd been arguably the strongest character of the main six. |
