sort of. I went through it and removed all the early instances of Gilda's weepiness, as well as giving motivation for her to take out her frustration on her surroundings... touched up the dialogue to make it more 'Gilda' like, and pretty much removed all of her crying in general.

that said, I'm still not happy with it. it feels... amateurish. Like it's telling a cliche story in an unmotivating way. I'm not even sure why I wrote it. If you get a chance, you could give it a quick once over and tell me if it's garbage, or how it might be salvaged, but if no one likes it I might just throw it in the 'failed projects' folder.

I dunno. I just like the idea of talented minds conspiring together to create something that utilizes the abilities of everyone involved.

I'm not sure how collaborative writing works writing works in general, but the example I keep coming back to is Good Omens by Pratchett and Gaiman.

I imagine the writing process was probably along the lines of, each of them would take a stab at a section or passage of story, and then through the blur of multiple edits the styles would merge together, making it a more cohesive whole.

Frankly the brainstorming is the most exciting part, but really the whole idea seems cool to me.

Unfortunately there'd probably be a lot of 'well what do you think is cool' back and forth, finding something both parties were interested in. The only idea I've really been passionate about to an extent that it would warrant that kind of effort (and besides which, anything 'collaborative' in that nature probably needs a decent length to it was well) was this huge ass War Story, but I don't know that it'd be ideal for a project of that type.

The thing is, that's going to be the case with any form of collaboration in any medium. The goal is always to find a way to work past it. In the case of the proposed "war story" I imagine the best way to do such a thing would be to play it as a sort of "campaign" - each writer involved takes control of the mythos behind a certain nation, or faction, and then they work together to align their ultimate goals. It seems difficult, but not unfeasible, as long as you get a group of people who are courteous and civil to each other and willing to work together.
On the issue of group consensus, whether in relation to ideas, production, or any other facet of the job, it's, again, a case of getting skilled, like-minded people together and giving them motive to work. It would be of decent length, but you could always play it like a game of Round Robin, make it fun for everybody. It's about teamwork, making friends, building a strategy-oriented group of people who want to work on a project - maybe difficult in a fandom, but I think the friend-off is a good example of why such a thing is possible.
It might be a good idea! Just look for people and try to branch out, make "fandom friends". I know a lot of people look down on the process, but it's the only way to get a collaboration going. Good luck to you, man!

well, honestly, I still think you should read it just to get an idea of where all the fanon comes from - it's honestly not that bad. if you've been exposed to any amount of gore, you can take it at face value - it's not very visceral, mostly due to the way in which it was written, and seeing through the vale of the technical aspect of the writing makes it much easier to handle.

Yeah, but that's different. I don't have to see (or read, in this case) the cow being brutally mutilated, murdered, gutted, dissected, and brought to me slightly seared on each side to enjoy it. Now that you're quoting it the dialogue seems more stirring than I remember it (though probably not in the way the author intended), but I DEFINITELY recall the gore descriptions being really... flat. Like, I'm not saying I'm the authoratative expert on how to write descriptions of brutality, but Cupcakes was never done in such a way that made me go 'ohgod blargh'. It just felt really to the point; was much more about simply dictating the goings on rather than getting the reader invested in them.
