!b9XDsn6HJM 09/05/11(Mon)23:20 No.29411013Hey, it's been a while. Sorry to burst into the new thread, but I recently wrapped up the second chapter of an epic-length fanfiction and would like some feedback since it's currently largely ignored elsewhere. My slow pace certainly doesn't help matters: there was a span of about 3 months between finishing the first and second chapters!
Storm Princess (Dark, Sci-Fi, Adventure) Chapter 1: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=1sCPcJ2as5MJ5D8YHCVbJ5EhDS_lnpj4GRVN5MwAzOLY&hl=en_US Chapter 2: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=1q5RMgEawS3rHXAsBZvYP7T0t3QQ7xKuVOFHbn195hR8&hl=en_US
The story takes place in a dystopian world where Cloudsdale is a feudal metropolis in the sky; the only form of government in this flying city are corporations like the shadowy Erebus Collective and Daedalus Industries. Mercenaries like the Wonderbolts and the underground society of Runners are the agents of subterfuge and espionage. In the midst of this urban turf war, the surface-worlders are starting to gain a hold on the city.
Rainbow Dash is the hero of this saga, reimagined as the titular Storm Princess, the rambunctious young heir to the powerful Storm Foundation; she must learn the meaning of loyalty and the power of belief if she is to play her part in the growing conflict over the fate of the world.
What few reviewers I've managed to snare have compared it to Shadowrun, Metropolis, Neuromancer, Gargoyles, and a gamut of things I may or may not have read/seen/experienced for myself. I don't consider myself well-read when it comes to sci-fi and fantasy, but its overall culture has certainly informed my writing and worldbuilding.
Please Note: Each chapter is presented as an MSWord file sync'd through GDocs. If you prefer to read a GDocs file, links are provided in the descriptions. However, only the MSWord file reflects the latest revisions and edits.
Enjoy! Or don't. |
