Oh, man, that's a point of view I hadn't considered. You're right, actually, that really does put an upper bound on how long FiM can be good, given how very character driven it is.

Still, I don't feel like we really *know* the characters properly yet, s1 seemed to be about exploring their issues, but there's still room for more there, as well as looking at why they have them - and Discord sounds like a good villain for the series, preying on their insecurities and giving us more insight into their characters!

Hey, I like the names Lyra and Bon-Bon as much as the next guy. I think they're really sweet, and appropriate. I applaud much of the fandom on its ability to name the characters, which is pretty cool. But, you know, those people take it - and themselves, clearly - too seriously. Unless the new names were absolutely shit, I wouldn't even be disappointed, I'd be proud the BG characters got their own names, you know? If they were terrible, eh, get over it. It's why I'm rather partial to the idea of bringing in a new cast in a new setting if they do decide to drag the show out - it may not work very well, but at least we won't be seeing the characters we love replay the same trite and hackneyed events to the same marching tune, for the same results, season after season. But that's admittedly something of a pipe dream.

Yeah, exactly, which is why I think they can sustain at least one more season, maybe two or three. We have these opportunities to gain valuable insight, why not capitalise on them? It's definitely a good idea and I love the way Season 1 was pretty much holistically, I don't think it'll be any worse at all. But, you know, easy to be pessimistic, and it's easy to generalise and assume we know everything there is to know about these characters, haha!

I figure, with a little luck, in an ideal world, we'd be able to last until Season 4 or 5. Just have to keep holding out and hope Season 2 doesn't burst our bubble!
