the thing is, /co/ is not a forum, but most general threads are full of people who would be much better off on a forum for their subject of interest (be it Ponies, Adventure Time, Transformers, Regular Show, any number of shows that usually have general threads). The General system is an awful system.
I've seen the results in /v/, they aren't pretty.

I really liked the item/power system they had in Chocobo Racing. You could carry up to three items at a time, but only the last one was usable. Each ability (aside from Doom) was visible on the track and powered up if you got more than one in a row from level 1 (no upgrades) to level 3 (max power but takes up all your item slots). The speed-up lasted longer, the attack powers got more deadly, etc. Each character also had a unique ability that charged up separate from items. Chocobo had a dash power, Black Mage would upgrade his last item once, Mog had a flying power that eliminated rough terrain penalties.

The only downside was Ultima and Bahamut's power. Ultima 1 made everyone else spin out, Ultima 2 made everyone crash and Ultima 3 made everyone crash with a long animation. Bahamut's power took longer than everyone else's to charge but it was a free Ultima 3.

I have one fic in progress called "Going Coastal" - the beach fic - that intends to riff on some of Pratchett's work, so it's a cute little veiled reference in and of itself, you know?

I guess it's sort of for a mixture of reasons, most of which have very little grounding in anything not completely baseless conjecture on the part of Luna. In my personal fanon (judge me how you will), I see Luna as strong, likeable, fairly gregarious, maybe a little bit crazy. A masterful orator just a little out of practice. NMM offered Dash the opportunity to join her, something she offered no one else, because of the whole "Loyalty" thing, and I'd like to think there's a little connection there - furthermore, I can imagine Luna would have a lot of respect for Dash as she would any of the Elements of Harmony, but her even more so. She gave up on her dreams, after all. I think their designs are highly complementary, too, and Dash is boisterous, headstrong and brash - she'd be able to bring anyone out of their shell regardless of what they're like.
Really, I just think they're adorable together.

Any why after an episode of training we have each disappointed CMC in the night going outside training to do this once and for all. All or nothing.
And we have the song sung by Sweetie Belle at first slowly as they try and fail try and fail try and fail.
Then we get to the goddam chorus where all the CMC sing as they finally do it. As they finally get their cutie marks.
Then at the end of the song it gets soft, sad as they realize that they can no longer be the CMC as they have completed their quest.
Next day they meet be all sad and stuff abd then they realize that they still can be friends and have adventures together as their friendship was more then finding a cutie mark.
