taking a look at a lot of what is considered popular contemporary music i can see that image and market influence are pretty massive factors. but then, i assume you want to be part of the indie music scene, right? independent record labels market to a more niche demographic, so i guess it's something you can acclimatise to by getting to know that demographic.
i don't know, man, i'm rambling here. still, i can imagine not having many opportunities to play gigs would stifle the fuck out of your band, so kudos on finally getting the shit you need together.
yep, that's always the way, but even then there comes a point where you have to suppress that, though i can't talk for the music industry a lot of the biggest stars i've seen and a few of the musicians i've known have always talked about ego the same way you do, so i can sort of see the psychoses that stem from it, and how it requires a certain sort of person.
i don't know, man, but it's terrifying how an industry that should be so straightforward is one of the most crooked and difficult to navigate. |
