I was at PAX all weekend. There was definitely a large undercurrent of pony there. MC Frontalot had some clips from the show playing on the screen while he was on stage, Depy Hooves ended up in the PA create-a-strip, and "Unicorn Theater" had pics of Twilight and Celestia up. Also, it seemed like one in every 4 or 5 people had either a pony shirt of pin on. Only three cosplays I saw (Twilight, Fluttershy, and Vinyl Scratch).

So anyway, did we get any more news of season 2 this weekend while I was away, or are we all still jerking each other off and speclating over the nature of Discord?

I like to think the Earth Pony "special ability" is the fact they are the most "animalistic" for lack of a better word, ponies, and the closest to their natural state. This manifests in far keener senses, instinct and a far greater adaptability. Unicorns and Pegasus have sort of given up much of their ponydom for the gifts they received. At least that's my take on it. Earth ponies therefore would make the best naturalists, rangers, explorers, in general anything that would benefit from instinct or intuition. I imagine this can be carried over quite well into things like say, business in ponyland. Or medicine.
