!Taxif57b8c 08/24/11(Wed)06:20 No.29025188>>29025121 Dangerous Business by Jetfire is probably one of the best things I've ever read, fanfic or otherwise. His Nightmare Rarity story was also amazing. I like all of Cosmo's stuff because I feel he has a gift for writing dialogue and characterization that other people in the fandom don't possess. I feel much the same about Terse, although he's only published one story to my knowledge.
I really liked the Pony Psychology series, even though it got stupid and ridiculous nearer to Twilight's section.
Some of RS's less serious stuff is really good, I particularly liked the RD / Scootaloo story he wrote that I can't remember the name of. His earlier stuff as HFPS is cool too. A lot of it is pretty unpolished, but he had a ton of ideas that were really inspirational. I feel the same way about Faceless' less 'why.jpg' stuff.
Luna's Goodwill Tour, while really stodgily written, is a good story, and I'm bummed that it's taking so long to conclude - it feels like it was barely even started when the initial posting ended, and I'm not sure I'll remember to check back if it ever updates.
And, for as much has been said about him in this thread and otherwise lately, I think Tozac is an amazing, enviably talented writer, who is characterized too often by his choice of subject matter. Anything he's written is probably great, but his seminal piece Rarity's Generous Plan, is worth a read even if you squirm a little at the content. I just wish he'd talk more about his writing, rather than spewing quickfics out into threads while paying no attention to other people.
I also remember reading two fics by authors I can't recall that were really good, neither of them on EqD. If you can find them floating around, they're called Gummy's Birthday Party, and Straight and Narrow. |
