I like to interpret Dash's first Rainboom as being the catalyst of their fated union, but the purpose itself didn't become clear until the events of the pilot. It's like an untold prophecy fulfilling itself, and likely, if the main six become part of lore and legend in the in-universe future, it'd be mentioned that the legendary Sonic Rainboom united the heroes which saved the world from eternal darkness and despair at least twice.

Of course, this would never be the case since Ponyville is forever bound in a state of status quo and no one seems to care enough to record said events, but it's a nice thought.

Yes that would be stupid. No, I think its more. Luna was already mad, Discord swoops in and talks to her and gets her to show that jealousy and sorrow. He offers her the power to stand up to her sister and make everything Night eternal. Luna takes the offer and becomes Nightmare Moon.

This fits in with Faust's "She used evil magic to transform herself"

It also works well with what Discord actually is. Chaos and the severing of a group mentality. He feeds on the darkness in ponies hearts. He wants them to work on their own and corrupts what they represent.

AJ would become a liar.
Rarity would be selfish.
Rainbow Dash would be disloyal.
Fluttershy would be full of wrath.
Pinkie would be sad and make others sad.
Twilight would become anti-social again.

I really do not understand how they have to "find" the elements of harmony. Typo or not, it would be very poor writing that all of the sudden they have to "find" them all over again.

The first two episodes clearly show that all the ponies had their strengths and were able overcome the obstacles by NMM and use the EoH. To even have the idea of second thoughts (fighting, abandonment, etc) just because of some stupid visions (or shitty gem) is just crap writing. Especially after the crap they went through in the other episodes.

I understand it is a kids show, but common.

In the case that this Discord guy does exist, would be better off to make him just a regular unicorn. It would build more character knowing that this bad guy got to where he is being a basic unicorn and not some alicorn (implying it was all easy-modo).

I believe they originally requested the face to be Caramel's, so I tried to make his hair match Caramel's as much as possible. Because the original style was pretty much black and white with some goldenish brown filter on top, it's otherwise kinda hard to distinguish that it's supposed to be Caramel's mug.
