I like the concept of Discord, but applying it to the show means it will have a quick end.

If Discord becomes a villain that constantly causes trouble for the main six, the I don't think I would like the show that much anymore. Not because of the recurring villain, but I think it would become stale after a while.

On the other hand, at the end of the two-part episode, if Discord is defeated, then we'll have just another repeat of season 1's beginning.

It's just a matter of how they handle him. If he is only for the two parter, they will just need to make him different from Nightmare Moon. Really easy to do actually since Nightmare Moon didn't really do much to the mane 6.

I like the theory that Luna was trying to be free of the jealousy and anger and manipulated the things that Nightmare Moon did so that they weren't quite so nasty.

Discord on the other hand would have no problem with mentally breaking the ponies or harming other ponies. This would set him apart quite well, an actual legitimate threat.

Now if he was more of a season long villain, then it is still simple. Just make sure his scheme doesn't dissolve to monster of the week. If they can change it up and have him be manipulating events from the side lines he would be much better.

A sort of shadowy presence that is always looming over Ponyville every episode. The problems are never directly stated to be his doing and the how and why they happen is something you need to work out yourself.

The sudden realization from the cast that Discord had been playing with them for that long would be nice as well.

I don't expect him to last more then the two parter though, no reason for him to. I enjoy the slice of life aspect of the show with little adventures in between.

But yeah, Slice of Life is classified as being a show about the aspects of day to day life activities.

It just means that there is no long standing plot line that gets interrupted and then picking up where it left off.

I did find myself at odds with liking the show because of that though, since I hate K-on and Lucky Star and they do share similar elements. I guess the difference is that the characters here actually do grow and it isn't always cute ponies doing cute things. Sometimes it's awesome things.
