Applejack is not my favorite pony.

However, I have come to the conclusion that she is the pony I would miss the most if she left the show. That sound paradoxical, but hear me out.

Applejack is arguably the BEST of the ponies. She is loyal, she is dependable, she is strong, she is honest, she works hard, and she makes difficult decisions carefully. She isn't prone to eccentricities, she doesn't have a really bad psychological issue, she is simply sturdy and dependable.

You know who she reminds me of the most? I've said this before.

She's Faramir. Not Faramir from the fucking Peter Jackson movies where they horribly butchered his character. She's the Faramir from the LOTR books, whom Tolkien described as the most noble character he had ever created. She selflessly takes on the burdens of others, shouldering them without a word, faultlessly humble and sacrificing, yet maintaining a dignity throughout that is impossible to deny.

I love the animation, it's really refreshing to see something like this made in flash.

Nostalgia also plays a small part in it. I actually remember watching the old MLP cartoon when I was little and I enjoyed it somewhat. The movie was better, but that's mostly because I thought the Smooze was fucking awesome.

It also reminds me of why I loved old cartoons. Pinkie especially brings all those old themes I loved. Popping up out of objects, exaggerated movements and being inescapable in a chase.

The things that usually make a girl show are also not brought to the forefront. If anything, it's just a show, that just happens to appeal to girls.

There are only two episodes that really focus on overly girly themes. Look before you sleep and Green isn't your color.

Otherwise you get the ponies doing typical Saturday morning cartoon things that appeal to either gender and I think that's awesome.

The truth of the matter is that we haven't seen much interaction between the mane cast and other ponies. We only have information about how they treat each other and most of the characterization come from this interactions and nothing else.

Semi-recently, a board was added in order to contain fans of Pokemon. From my understanding, the reason for doing so was because the Pokemon fandom was cancerous and out of control.
Perhaps the ponies have not plagued 4chan for quite as long as Pokemon, but it has become clear to me that these ponies are not a simple flavor-of-the-month craze, as I have seen no evidence of it stopping anytime soon.
I have seen the declines of other boards, and knowing the cause this time, I didn’t want to stand idly by. And yes, I have tried creating good, fun threads and good, fun content as a countermeasure, and while they are positively recieved, it is, how you say, merely a “drop in an ocean of piss.”

Pokemon Generals were not as big a problem as /v/ made it out to be. Actually I agree with you on a lot of things. But you also got to realize that the people who actually like the show, tend to stick to /co/. Anyone posting with a pony trip or avatar outside of /co/ is usually just doing it because they know that it annoys people.

The roleplaying in the generals is rather annoying, but I put up with it because I can't get them to stop.
