Basically what we do is we make sure that your fan fiction is polished and refined before you go sending it off to EqD for the beta-readers to judge whether it gets posted or not. A simple way of saying it is:
GPU is a highly specialized but retarded processor. This makes them really fucking fast, as in 10-30x faster than your typical CPU.

A CPU is designed for general work. Their lack of specialty makes them really slow, but they can handle a lot of types of instructions.

A CPU can certainly do the work of a graphics card - thats why old games frequently have a 'Software Renderer' which is letting the CPU do the graphics card job. (e.g. Quake)

However it still needs a way to send that info; and with a buggered GPU there is no way to do that.
