Philomena softly crowed, and Her Royal Highness Princess Celestia of Equestria blinked. The dream was already fading. Quickly she stood and walked to the writing stand. In a few strokes of the quill, she outlined the details: herself as a foal playing in the grass around the castle in what had become the Everfree Forest, with Twilight Sparkle, Luna, Vera, and the others. Her dreams were the only things that were truly hers.
The darkness of night and the pinprick stars still covered the sky. Celestia smiled.
She opened the door and made her way down the hall to the throne room. It faced north, with a dais on either side, the tall windows open to the west and east. "Good morning, sister," said Luna, sitting on the west dais. She stifled a yawn with a hoof, then asked, "Are you ready?"
Each morning and each evening for a thousand years, Celestia had heard her sister's voice only in her mind. Now, a month after the Summer Sun Celebration, she heard it with her ears. Instead of proceeding to the east throne, she walked over and nuzzled her little sister. "I'm so glad you're back, Luna."

Morning Court was a delight, as always. Her trusted judges took 99% of the cases, and left her only the most malicious plaintiffs and ridiculously "innocent" defendants. She took pleasure in correcting the ideas some of these ponies had about justice.

Lunch was imported grasses from the wilds of Alpacatina.
--
Afternoon Court was law time. Luna was awake again, and she helped Celestia figure which petitions were attempts to gain power. She always was the smarter one.

Evening and a friendship report. "Dear Princess Celestia..."
And then dreams. |
