Same guy you asked to describe the Emperor.
We haven't overrun anything because of several reasons. A few of our enemies ALSO have numbers (Orcs multiply by spores... which are released upon death. A bad thing to deal with when Orcs basically fight everything, including each other, for fun. The only reason they, themselves, haven't steamrolled the entire universe is because they can't all gather up due to too much in-fighting. But they don't mind, a fight's a fight. Also, Tyranids have pretty much eaten the other parts of the universe. They only reason THEY haven't won is because, well, not enough time has passed. If things keep going the way they are, everyone is 'Nid food eventually.), a couple of our enemies have technological superiority (Eldar, and at their current rate, if not already, Tau in a few years), all our major dudes keep getting corrupted (Fucking Chaos), etc. Also humanity is a huge bureaucratic clusterfuck full of in-fighting itself, but without the advantage it gives to Orcs.
The Emperor... he takes a bit more finesse to describe. In ultra layman's terms, he unitied the entirety of humanity a long time ago and was an immensely powerful psychic. Revered as a god. betrayed by his favorite bro in the whole wide world, "killed" and kept on life preserve for fucking ever. He's basically a corpse on a big seat, more a symbol than anything, but he is a goddamn big symbol and his technically living soul inspires trillions to fuck up everything in his name. |
