Personalities are based on their experiences/upbringing. Nyx is considered a Mar(e)y Sue because she was created by a botched spell and has no memories to base anything off of. She later becomes much like Twilight due to her "Mother's" teaching. It makes sense. So this is excused by the plot.

The guy complaining about Rarity acting out of character because she isn't thinking logically is completely wrong, bitch doesn't know about Sonic Rainboom. We know that Rarity has a tendency to forget all else when she has an idea in her head, mainly concerning beauty. This is excused by the canon

And Twilight's actions, are out of character based on the fact that she feels like Nyx is a daughter to her. We all know mothers will act completely differently when their children (Biological or not) are at risk. So this is excused by the plot.

And Celestia and Luna aren't out of character because we don't know enough about them in the first place. How would Celestia act if she knew her kingdom might be in danger (we don't get to see this in the canon, so it is free for interpretation). As a ruler of a nation, she is responsible, for the safety of everypony. We don't know how she would react. So this is excused by the plot and the lack of information from the canon.

So in other words, Y'all are bitching over nothing.

Actually, both Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie can be seen in a camera pan across the mane cast in that episode, but that was probably an animation error, considering.

Like I said though, that description didn't do it justice. It's more than just 'aww oo's bwoken wemmie hewp ooo'. That'd be hackneyed shit I'd have stopped reading. There's good development of Trixie's character and rapport with the others over the course of the story, and plenty of those little 'touching' moments that I read shipfics for. The funniest thing about Twilight's cutie mark story is the way the CMC don't seem to have wanted to hear it at all.

When we cut to them listening to Twilight, there's no buildup to it at all- she's just suddenly talking to them. There is no indication that they encountered her willingly. Then when she's done, they sound less than impressed, and they beat as hasty a retreat as they can manage.

I think Twilight heard from someone else that they were listening to cutie mark origin stories, and she was SO EAGER to tell them hers that she ambushed them. I can just picture her stalking them through the town, precisely planning her 'accidental' encounter.
