Celestia wears the same stone that Rarity has, which was the stone of generosity, so she most likely had the help of 4 or 5 other ponies. Perhaps she didn't have the "friendship" one, but I dunno. Celestia's kind of a bitch though.

I've always liked the idea that somehow NMM sealed Celestia away, possibly in the sun. It makes a certain amount of sense.

That second one seems plausible. If Celestia used the Elements on her own, she probably brute-forced her way to working them, rather than actually harnessing them properly, which would explain a great deal.
I just wish we had more clarification on the issue!

Twilight being the only one to figure about NMM and not someone who studied all his life this. No one but no one remembered about NMM.
Also it just happens that the embodiments of the elements live in the same period of time, are almost the same age, are old enough to embark on this quests, live in the same village where the celebration is held, and are already connected since childhood?
Too many things don't add up.

My theory is this.
Celestia planed everything.
Look the intro said that Celestia sealed NMM permanently in the moon.
She couldn't use the full power of the elements cause she lacked friends. So she sealed her in the moon till some one who could use them properly and save Luna appear.
She said that Twilight has the most magic she ever saw in a Unicorn. And she is the only one who could have known that the final element is magic.
She "helped" Twilight figure out everything about NMM and when the time came she released her and hoped the Twilight could succeed where she failed.
And if not...she could banish her in the moon again and wait for a new generation of potential elements.

This is pretty much guaranteed. She's an important part of the story and setting, yet she's gotten roughly ten seconds of screentime and two lines of dialogue. The character is basically a blank slate that the fandom's built up to be whatever each person wants to see in her character. Because for all the crap that happens in Cupcakes, it's so over-the-top that you can really just categorize it as gory fantasy fanfic. But when you add in this rationalized fanfic that acts as some kind of..I dunno vestibule from gorey delusion to how the show actually is it adds this huge level of sadness. I think, with gore, you have two options

one: you can just be brutally descriptive and masturbate blood and bones and all other nasties onto everything. This is most gore. Kiddy grimdark.

two: You are ever so subtle and apply your gore when it would hurt most, make it as effective as possible. It so much more evocative when the reader builds most of the scene themslef, people listen better to their own imaginations. This is good grimdark, it's rare

It's true that my existing Ponybeats don't mimic a lot of existing label fare. I'm just not sure all those will be appropriate for Ingram's compositions in S2... Older-school Eurobeat like you've mentioned can be so minor, whereas Ingram's stuff is usually so Major. We'll have to see.

I don't know a lot about what happened behind the scenes for season one, but I'm willing to bet that more than one episode was retooled from the show's original Sailor Moon-ish premise. And if Nightmare Moon was originally going to have been defeated in the finale, with Luna a surprise reveal at the end, I can see where they might not have had a set plan for her character yet. Simply avoiding her was their strategy, and it worked decently, since it was more important to build up the rest of the cast first.

My question is how they would have dealt with Nightmare Moon's first reveal if she was to last the whole season. If she imprisoned Celestia in Episode 1, would it be really have been eternal night until Episode 26?
